Azerbaijan urges Israel to avoid strikes on Azerbaijani-populated areas in Iran

Azerbaijan has again appealed to Israel to avoid targeting areas in Iran populated by ethnic Azerbaijanis and to act with caution during military operations, diplomatic sources told Anews.az.
The message was conveyed through multiple channels, the source said. Concern in Baku has grown particularly after recent Israeli airstrikes on military facilities in the city of Ardabil, a region with a large Azerbaijani population.
Azerbaijan had previously sent a similar warning to Israel several days earlier, the source added.
Military clashes between Israel and Iran, which began on June 13, have caused damage to civilian infrastructure on both sides. Strikes near Azerbaijani-populated areas in Iran have raised fears of civilian casualties and destruction of vital infrastructure.
