Iran says Trump remark on Khamenei is an ‘insult’, not a threat

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described as "an insult" a recent comment by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who said Washington knows the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei but is "not planning to take him out — at least not yet."

“This is an insult, not a threat. Such statements are not befitting of a so-called superpower,” NBC News journalist Andrea Mitchell quoted Araghchi as saying.

On June 17, Trump called Khamenei "an easy target," but added that the United States currently has no plans to eliminate him.
