China thanks Azerbaijan for helping evacuate its citizens from Iran

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has thanked Azerbaijan for assisting in evacuating Chinese nationals from Iran amid the ongoing conflict, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiaqun said at a press briefing.

“Countries such as Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, and Jordan provided significant support to China during the evacuation of our citizens. We are sincerely grateful to them,” Guo said.

As of June 21, more than 740 Chinese citizens were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan via the Astara border crossing.
