China told EU it cannot allow Russia to lose the war

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas that Beijing cannot allow Russia to lose its war against Ukraine, South China Morning Post reported, citing sources.
According to the report, Beijing fears that a Russian defeat would cause the United States to shift its strategic focus entirely toward China.
Wang also rejected allegations that China is materially supporting Moscow. “If we really were helping Russia, the war would have ended long ago,” he reportedly said.
During the four-hour meeting in Brussels, Wang repeatedly interrupted Kallas and delivered “history lessons,” sources told the paper. Some EU officials viewed his remarks as “a lesson in realpolitik.”
