Trump promises more weapons for Ukraine, criticizes Putin again

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine, citing the intensity of Russian strikes.
“They’re getting hit very hard. We have to send more weapons so they can defend themselves,” Trump told reporters at the White House before a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump also expressed disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying: “I’m not happy with him at all.”
Shortly after Trump's remarks, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that new defensive weapons were being sent under Trump’s direction. No details were provided.
Politico reported that U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg and Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov are expected to meet in Rome this week and later in Kyiv to discuss renewed shipments, including engineering equipment and armored vehicles.
The Wall Street Journal said Trump assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a July 4 phone call that the recent pause in arms shipments was due to a Pentagon review after Iran’s nuclear sites were struck in April.
