US down to 25% of needed Patriot missiles — The Guardian

The United States has only about 25% of the Patriot missile stockpile required to meet the Pentagon’s operational needs, The Guardian reported, citing defense sources.

A portion of the missiles has been used in operations in the Middle East. The shortage is reportedly one of the reasons behind the pause in military aid to Ukraine.

Sources say some key U.S. munitions stockpiles have remained below minimum levels for years, with the situation worsening after large-scale arms deliveries to Ukraine under President Joe Biden.

The current administration of Donald Trump has been reassessing U.S. strategic reserves since February, particularly after the decision to deploy additional Patriot batteries in the Middle East.

German outlet Bild previously reported that Ukraine may also run out of Patriot missiles within 1–2 weeks, according to the most pessimistic forecasts.
