Mayor of Adana Zeydan Karalar arrested in Turkey

Zeydan Karalar, the mayor of Adana Metropolitan Municipality, was arrested along with Buyukcekmece deputy mayor Ahmet Sahin and his driver Sonkan Turan, Turkish media reported on Tuesday.

The arrests were made on charges of “establishing or participating in a criminal organization” and “accepting bribes.”

Abdurrahman Tutdere, the mayor of Adiyaman, has been placed under house arrest.

Earlier, Niyazi Nefi Kara, the mayor of Manavgat in Antalya province, was also detained.
