U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham said Russian President Vladimir Putin should take former President Donald Trump’s 50-day Ukraine ultimatum seriously, warning of “severe consequences” if it is ignored.

“If Putin wants to know what happens on day 51, I’d suggest calling the Ayatollah,” Graham wrote on social platform X, referring to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Graham praised Trump’s proposal for NATO allies to buy U.S. weapons and transfer them to Ukraine, calling it a “welcome development.” He also backed Trump’s plan to impose 100% tariffs on countries that continue purchasing Russian oil, saying such measures would hit Russia “where it hurts most.”

Trump announced on July 14 that Russia must reach a peace deal within 50 days or face sweeping economic penalties.
