Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is facing accusations of attempting a coup against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to opposition broadcaster Iran International.

More than 30 Iranian lawmakers have called for Pezeshkian’s resignation, accusing him of overstepping his authority and plotting to shift the Islamic Republic’s course, including a potential normalization with Israel. Former ambassador and MP Abolfazl Zohrevand said Pezeshkian’s administration would “end the Islamic Revolution before his term is over,” calling the situation a coup.

Pezeshkian responded during a cabinet meeting, saying: “We are not allowed to impose our views on others... those who oppose us are not necessarily enemies.”

Khamenei’s close adviser Mohammad Mokhber condemned efforts to question the president’s legitimacy, calling them misguided. Former government spokesman Ali Rabiei warned against political polarization, saying, “The sound of division is louder than missile explosions.”
