Iran and E3 to hold nuclear talks in Istanbul on July 25 — foreign ministry

Iran and the E3 group — Germany, France and the United Kingdom — will hold a new round of nuclear negotiations on July 25 in Istanbul, Iran’s foreign ministry said on Sunday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, members of the Security Council, and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, criticizing the European stance on sanctions.

Araghchi argued that by supporting Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, the E3 countries had abandoned the core principles of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), disqualifying them from triggering its mechanisms and rendering their calls for renewed UN sanctions “illegitimate.”

He urged the E3 not to undermine the Security Council’s authority and to refrain from actions that could deepen divisions within the body.
