Hundreds stranded at Moscow airports as drone attacks force mass flight cancellations

Chaos continues at Moscow airports as over 100 flights were canceled and 75 delayed following Ukrainian drone attacks overnight, according to Russia’s aviation authority. Passengers remain stuck in boarding areas without food or updates on departures.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said 19 drones were intercepted by Russian air defense, with one striking a residential building in Zelenograd. No casualties were reported.
Travelers on a Moscow–Chelyabinsk flight say they’ve been stranded at Vnukovo Airport for more than 12 hours without food. Cafes are overcrowded and boarding passes reportedly do not allow access to meals, despite airline promises.
Flight operations were also restricted at Domodedovo and Kaluga airports. Over 130 aircraft were diverted to alternate airfields. Drone debris damaged rail infrastructure in Russia’s Rostov region, causing delays to 75 long-distance trains.
