Ankara and Damascus to sign military cooperation agreement

Türkiye and the new government in Syria are set to sign a comprehensive agreement on military cooperation, Turkish newspaper Hurriyet said.
The publication did not specify the exact date of the planned signing but noted that both Ankara and Damascus are moving toward this significant step amid growing security threats to Syria from Israel, which is attempting to ignite a new civil war within the Arab republic.
Hürriyet recalls that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had previously emphasized Ankara’s firm opposition to any plans aimed at destabilizing or dividing Syria. The newspaper also highlighted that the new Syrian leadership has formally requested assistance from Türkiye in combating terrorism.
