Armenian border guard dies by suicide

An 18-year-old Armenian border guard serving under the National Security Service (NSS) died by suicide in the village of David Bek in the southern Syunik region, local outlet 24News reported on Thursday.
The soldier reportedly shot himself with a service weapon.
The incident took place near Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan, a region that has seen frequent flare-ups and deadly skirmishes since the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. Military positions along the frontier remain on high alert amid persistent tensions and lack of a formal peace treaty.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the circumstances of the death.
