Trump warns of new Russia sanctions if no Ukraine truce by Aug. 8

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington will impose new sanctions on Russia if it fails to agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine by August 8 — the end of a 10-day ultimatum.
“Sanctions will come. Let’s see what happens,” Trump told reporters, noting that Russia had so far managed to “successfully evade” many restrictions.
He added that two U.S. nuclear submarines had already been deployed “where they are supposed to be,” referring to an order he issued on August 1 following a public spat with Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev.
Trump also said his Middle East envoy, Steven Witkoff, might visit Russia on August 6 or 7. Witkoff has met President Vladimir Putin four times this year.
Trump’s domestic security adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News that the president has “all tools on the table” — diplomatic, financial and more — to bring the war to an end.
