Armenia and Azerbaijan to sign peace memorandum at White House

Armenia and Azerbaijan are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding at the White House on Friday, committing to a future peace agreement, regional sources familiar with the matter told Middle East Eye.
The signing ceremony will be hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, as part of his growing diplomatic engagement in the South Caucasus.
While the two sides reached consensus on a draft peace deal in March, Baku continues to insist that Yerevan amend its constitution to remove territorial references to Azerbaijan — a step that would likely require a national referendum.
Sources said the document to be signed will be a “letter of intent” rather than a finalized agreement, offering Trump a diplomatic win ahead of the U.S. elections.
