U.S. Secret Service to help protect Putin during Alaska summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin will be protected not only by his own security detail but also by U.S. Secret Service agents during his visit to Alaska for a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump, a former senior U.S. Secret Service official said.
“When President Putin arrives in the United States, he will have his regular Russian security. But he will also be protected by the U.S. Secret Service. We don’t want anything to happen to President Putin while he is here—just as the Russian authorities wouldn’t want anything to happen to President Trump if he were visiting Russia,” Robert McDonald told TASS on Tuesday.
He added that both sides are equally invested in ensuring the safety of their leaders during the Aug. 15 meeting in Anchorage.
