Azerbaijan’s top general visits Pakistan to discuss defence ties

Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff Kerim Veliyev met Pakistan’s army chief, General Syed Asim Munir, in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss regional and global security and strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, Pakistan’s defence ministry said.
Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan, praised the countries’ “brotherly” ties, and congratulated Baku on the initialling of its peace agreement with Armenia.
Veliyev commended the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, highlighting the success of operations “Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq” and “Bunyad-ul-Marsus,” and expressed Azerbaijan’s commitment to deepening defence and security cooperation with Islamabad, the ministry said.
