The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump will take place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska, beginning at 23:30 Baku time (14:30 local). Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the summit will begin with a brief one-on-one meeting with translators, followed by expanded talks in a "5+5" format.

The agenda includes bilateral economic cooperation and global security. Sources told Reuters that key Russian officials including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov will attend, along with RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev.

Trump has described the summit as "exploratory," though The Washington Post notes he intends to clearly outline a proposed framework of “land for peace,” with possible U.S. sanctions if talks collapse. European officials are expected to demand firm U.S. involvement in post-agreement security guarantees.

Trump reportedly opposed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s participation, fearing disruption to the negotiations.
