Quake jolts northwestern Azerbaijan

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter Scale hit Azerbaijan’snorthwestern district of Zaqatala yesterday night, the State Seismology Servicesaid on its website.

The epicenter of the quake was 14 km northwest of the district center.

There are no reports of casualties or significant damage to buildings.

A quake in Zaqatala two years ago destroyed and damaged thousands ofpublic and private buildings.
