Putin says Russia has reliable nuclear shield

 President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia possesses a reliable nuclear shield, as he congratulated workers and veterans of the country’s atomic industry on its 80th anniversary.

In a message to industry employees, Putin said research and development in the sector would continue, along with efforts to strengthen international cooperation in nuclear energy.

“I am confident that you will continue to move forward, expand research and maintain the course of strengthening international cooperation,” the telegram read.

Putin also said Russia takes pride in the names of the founders of its nuclear program.
