US judge Frank Caprio, known for compassion in court, dies at 88

Frank Caprio, a U.S. judge celebrated for his compassion in court and widely known as the “world’s most merciful judge,” has died at the age of 88 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, local media reported.
Caprio became a household name through his televised court program Caught in Providence on FOX TV, where his lenient and humane rulings won him international attention. He often arranged payment plans for defendants struggling financially.
In recognition of his charitable deeds, a courthouse in Providence was named after him.
