EU to scrap tariffs on US industrial goods under trade deal

EU to scrap tariffs on US industrial goods under trade deal
21.08.2025 17:30

The European Union will remove tariffs on all U.S. industrial goods and grant preferential market access to a range of American seafood and agricultural products, the European Commission said on Thursday in a joint declaration with Washington.

The move follows trade talks based on agreements reached between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and U.S. President Donald Trump on July 27.

According to the declaration, the U.S. will apply a 15% tariff rate on goods originating from the EU. From Sept. 1, 2025, Washington will also apply only most-favoured-nation tariffs on EU products including scarce natural resources such as cork, all aircraft and parts, as well as generic pharmaceuticals, their ingredients and chemical precursors.
