Israel and Syria are set to sign a U.S.-brokered security agreement on Sept. 25, the day after Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s address to the U.N. General Assembly, Independent Arabia reported. The deal aims to ease tensions between Jerusalem and Damascus, though a full peace treaty is not expected soon.

Sky News Arabia said Washington is working to arrange a meeting between al-Sharaa and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with U.S. President Donald Trump participating.

Progress came during talks in Paris between Israeli strategic planning minister Ron Dermer and Syrian foreign minister Asad al-Sheibani. Key sticking points include Israel’s intention to maintain a presence at several strategic sites in Syria. The discussions also covered border de-escalation, non-interference in Syria’s internal affairs, regional stability and a possible revival of the 1974 agreement.
