Trump says gaza conflict could be resolved within weeks

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that a final settlement of the Gaza conflict could be reached within the next two to three weeks.
Speaking at the start of a White House meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Trump told reporters: “I think in the next two or three weeks we will come to a good, final conclusion [to the conflict]. It’s hard to talk about because they have been fighting for thousands of years; it has always been a hotspot of tension.”
On Aug. 8, Israel’s security cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take control of the entire Gaza City and expand operations in the Palestinian enclave. Defense Minister Israel Katz endorsed the plan on Aug. 20.
