Egypt moves troops to Gaza border amid fears of mass crossings

Egypt has deployed tens of thousands of troops and armored vehicles to the northern Sinai Peninsula near the Gaza border, concerned about possible mass crossings as Israel prepares a new military operation, “Kan-11” reported, citing Arab media.
Reports said up to 40,000 soldiers are being moved to the area. Cairo fears that worsening humanitarian conditions and instability in Gaza’s south could trigger uncontrolled movement toward Egyptian territory.
The Israel Defense Forces said any military deployment on the Sinai is coordinated with Israel under the peace agreement.
