Margarita Simonyan reveals she has serious health condition

Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and RT television, said doctors had diagnosed her with a “terrible, serious” illness but did not disclose the condition.

Appearing on Vladimir Solovyov’s show, she said she was due to undergo surgery the next day. Simonyan wore the Order of Princess Olga, 3rd class, which Patriarch Kirill awarded her for “preserving traditional values.”

She said she wanted to tell the truth herself to prevent speculation.

Her husband, film director Tigran Keosayan, has been in a coma for nine months.
