Kremlin declines comment on drones downed in Poland
10.09.2025 18:00

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to comment on reports that drones shot down in Poland were of Russian origin, saying the matter was for the Defence Ministry.

“We would not like to comment on this in any way, it is not in our competence. This is the prerogative of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation,” Peskov told reporters. He added that no requests for contact had been received from Polish leaders after the incident.

Overnight on Wednesday, Poland’s airspace was violated by drones, prompting NATO fighter jets to scramble. One drone struck a residential building in Lublin province.

Background: Poland has repeatedly reported drone incursions since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Warsaw has boosted its air defences and relies on NATO support to secure its skies. Rzeszow-Jasionka airport in southeastern Poland is a key logistics hub for Western military aid to Kyiv.
