Trump says Russian drone incident in Poland may have been a ‘mistake’

US President Donald Trump said the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones may have been an error, as tensions rose after Warsaw reported multiple UAV incursions overnight.
“It could have been a mistake,” Trump told reporters when asked about the incident. He added he was dissatisfied with the situation but hoped “it will end.”
On the night of Sept. 10, Poland said 19 Russian attack drones crossed its airspace via Ukraine and Belarus. Polish and Dutch jets were scrambled, and only four drones were intercepted. Wreckage of seven Geran-type drones and an unidentified missile were later found.
Moscow denied striking Polish territory but did not explain how the drones entered its airspace.
Background: NATO invoked Article 4 consultations at Poland’s request following the incident, calling it an “unprecedented violation.” While Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described the event as an “invasion,” NATO has said it does not view it as a direct attack on the alliance.
