Wife of ex-senator Menendez sentenced to 4.5 years in bribery case

Nadine Menendez (Arslanian), wife of former U.S. senator Bob Menendez, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after being found guilty of accepting bribes in the form of cash, gold bars and a Mercedes Benz, Bloomberg reported.
The 58-year-old was convicted by a Manhattan federal jury on 15 counts for her role in a long-running bribery scheme. Prosecutors said she played a key part by arranging meetings with Egyptian officials and relaying messages and payments to her husband.
Bob Menendez, once a prominent pro-Armenian senator, was earlier sentenced to 11 years in prison.
