Zelenskiy says Ukraine has cheaper ways to counter Russian drones

Zelenskiy says Ukraine has cheaper ways to counter Russian drones
15.09.2025 12:00

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the country has developed cheaper and more systematic means to counter Russian Shahed drones than those used by its partners and is ready to share its experience.

“Ukraine’s defence is a common task. We are ready to teach this to all partners. Everyone sees Russia testing ways to extend the war to Poland, the Baltics and even Romania,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly address.

He noted that NATO has Patriot systems and fighter jets, but Ukraine uses “much cheaper, mass and systemic solutions” against Shahed and Geran drones. Zelenskiy proposed joint projects with partners to finance and produce interceptor drones.

His remarks came after about 20 Russian drones crossed deep into Polish territory on Sept. 10 before being shot down, some reaching the country’s north and centre.
