Armenia says next talks with Turkey may be held in Ankara

Armenia says next talks with Turkey may be held in Ankara

Armenia’s special envoy for normalization with Turkey, parliament deputy speaker Ruben Rubinyan, said the next meeting with his Turkish counterpart could take place in Turkey, though no date has been set.

Rubinyan told Public Television that the two sides recently held their sixth meeting, the last one in Yerevan, which he described as “positive in a symbolic sense.”

Armenia and Turkey have had no diplomatic relations since the 1990s, with borders closed after the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In 2022, the two countries appointed special envoys to explore normalization. Some limited steps have followed, including resuming cargo flights and easing border restrictions for diplomats and third-country citizens.
