Trump tells UN he ended seven wars, calls for tougher action on Russia and Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump told the United Nations General Assembly he had brokered peace deals to end seven long-running conflicts in his first months in office and criticised the UN for failing to act.

Trump said wars in places including Armenia and Azerbaijan, Israel and Iran, and Kosovo and Serbia were halted through his administration’s direct diplomacy. “I ended seven wars … something the United Nations never even attempted to do,” he said.

On Ukraine, Trump said the conflict should have lasted “a few days” but had dragged on for three and a half years. He threatened steep tariffs if Russia refused a peace deal, urging Europe to stop energy imports from Moscow.

Trump also warned against recognising a Palestinian state while Hamas still held hostages, called Iran the “number one sponsor of terror” and said America would not allow it to develop nuclear weapons.

He hailed new trade deals with the EU, Japan and others, said NATO allies had agreed to raise defence spending to 5% of GDP, and pledged to crack down on drug cartels and “toxic green energy policies.”
