Singapore Airlines A380 makes emergency return after incident over Azerbaijan

A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 flying from Frankfurt to Singapore made an emergency return to Frankfurt after a suspected mechanical issue while cruising over Azerbaijan, the airline said.

Flight SQ325 took off from Frankfurt on September 25 at 21:56 local time and climbed to 35,000 feet, passing over several European countries without incident. The crew later detected a potential fault at 31,000 feet over Azerbaijan but did not divert to Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport, instead deciding to return to Germany.

The aircraft landed back in Frankfurt nearly nine hours later, around 06:51 local time on September 26. Passengers faced confusion and delays as one of Europe’s busiest airports struggled with disruptions.

Singapore Airlines confirmed the incident but gave no details on the nature of the fault or the number of passengers onboard.
