Altman warns AI could enslave or destroy humanity
02.10.2025 11:30

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman warned that artificial intelligence could one day lead to the end of humanity, including through a possible takeover of the world, Bild reported.

“This model takes control of the world more or less accidentally,” Altman said in a podcast with Axel Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner.

According to him, other scenarios include AI either subjugating those in power or evolving independently beyond human control. Altman noted that the number of ChatGPT users will soon reach billions.

“People are increasingly relying on its answers for important decisions in life, at work, everywhere,” he said, describing how users’ dependence is growing. He added that most people may eventually defer to AI recommendations, leading to a loss of control.
