Macron to deliver statement on October 8 amid political turmoil

French President Emmanuel Macron plans to make an official statement on the evening of October 8, Le Figaro reported.
The address will coincide with the deadline Macron set for “final discussions with political forces,” led by former Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
Lecornu resigned on October 6 after just 27 days in office, stepping down hours after unveiling a new cabinet that drew criticism from both Macron’s allies and the opposition.
The president had given Lecornu 48 hours to conclude talks with party leaders. On October 7, La France Insoumise leader Mathilde Panot said the Bureau of the National Assembly will consider a proposal to remove Macron from office. A vote on the resolution, already signed by 104 lawmakers, is scheduled for October 8.
