U.S. proposes banning Chinese airlines from flying over Russia – Reuters

The U.S. Department of Transportation has proposed banning Chinese airlines from using Russian airspace on flights to and from the United States, Reuters reported, citing a draft order.

U.S. carriers have long complained that while Chinese airlines are allowed to fly over Russia, American airlines lost access to the same routes in 2022.

According to the draft, the imbalance provides Chinese carriers with a significant competitive advantage. The proposal was put forward by President Donald Trump’s administration on October 9.
