Trump: U.S. also needs Tomahawk missiles

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington cannot deplete its own resources by supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, stressing that the U.S. military also requires the weapons.
“We need the Tomahawks — the U.S. has many, but we need them too. They’re powerful, precise and effective, but we cannot run down our stockpiles,” he told reporters.
His remarks followed an October 16 phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Reuters, Trump’s conciliatory tone after the call cast doubt on possible missile supplies to Ukraine and raised concerns in Europe about a potential U.S. concession to Moscow.
Trump added that Putin naturally opposed the idea of providing Tomahawks to Kyiv. He is expected to discuss the issue further with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at their October 17 meeting in Washington.
