AZAL plane makes emergency landing in St Petersburg, passengers safe

An Azerbaijan Airlines Airbus A320 operating flight J2-020 from St Petersburg to Baku made an emergency landing at Pulkovo airport on Oct 20 after a technical issue with its landing gear, the airline said.

The plane briefly rolled off the runway on landing but all 155 passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. A replacement aircraft later flew the passengers to Baku.

AZAL said the jet had undergone scheduled maintenance in September and was in working order at departure. It said the crew acted in full compliance with international aviation procedures.
