U.S. explains why it will not transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington will not transfer Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, as operating them requires extensive training and the U.S. does not plan to launch them against Russia itself.
“The problem with Tomahawks, which many don’t know about, is that it takes at least six months, usually a year, to learn how to use them. They are very complex, so the only way to launch a Tomahawk would be if we did it ourselves — and we’re not going to do that,” Trump told reporters at the White House after meeting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The president added that operating the missiles requires “years of intensive training.”
“We know how to use them, and we’re not going to train other people. That would be far too distant a prospect,” Trump said.
