India cuts Russian oil imports at Trump’s request
India has reduced its imports of Russian oil following a request from U.S. President Donald Trump, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said at a briefing on Thursday.
“We know that India has done the same at the President’s request. The President is also calling on European nations and our allies to stop buying Russian oil,” Levitt said.
Earlier, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Indian refineries are preparing to sharply reduce purchases of Russian crude in line with new U.S. sanctions targeting two of Russia’s leading oil producers.
