Yerevan plans to buy India-made Su-30 fighter jets
Armenia is in talks to purchase additional Su-30 fighter jets produced under license in India, Indian Defense reported.
According to sources, the deal is in its final stage and expected to cover between eight and twelve aircraft worth $2.5–3 billion.
The aircraft are an upgraded Su-30MKI variant featuring more Indian-made systems — including the Uttam radar, an advanced electronic warfare suite, and Astra MK-1 and MK-2 air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 200 kilometers.
Experts note that a significant portion of components will still come from Russia, allowing Moscow to profit from the contract and involve its defense industry in production.
Deliveries are expected between 2027 and 2029 if a final agreement is reached.
