Muslim candidate Zohran Mamdani elected New York City mayor

Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani has been elected mayor of New York City, securing approximately 50.4% of the vote, becoming the city's first Muslim and African-born person to hold the office. 

At 34 years old, he will also be the youngest mayor the city has had in over a century.
