Trump says Kazakhstan joins Abraham Accords
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan has become the first country to join the Abraham Accords during his second presidential term, following a trilateral phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“Kazakhstan is the first country during my second term to join the Abraham Accords — the first of many. This is an important step in building bridges around the world,” Trump said in a post on TruthSocial, adding that a formal signing ceremony will take place soon.
According to Axios, the move aims to reinvigorate the Abraham Accords as a U.S.-led framework for cooperation between Israel and the broader Muslim and Arab world.
Kazinform reported that during talks at the White House, Trump and Tokayev reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the expanded strategic partnership and supporting Trump’s “Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) initiative. Commercial agreements worth over $17 billion were signed during the visit.
