Elon Musk predicts digital immortality for humanity within 20 years
Entrepreneur Elon Musk, the founder of Neuralink and Tesla, said humanity could achieve digital immortality within the next two decades.
According to Musk, emerging technologies will soon make it possible for people to transfer their memories and consciousness into robots or even new bodies.
He explained that Neuralink’s neural-interface systems will allow the creation of digital replicas of the human mind — “personality fingerprints” that could be uploaded into Optimus androids or transplanted into biologically engineered bodies.
“A digital copy won’t be completely identical to the original, but it will retain core personality traits and essential memories,” Musk said, describing the concept as “a new way of continuing life beyond physical death.”
Musk added that advances in artificial intelligence and brain–computer interfaces are accelerating the timeline toward a future where “death may no longer be a definitive end.”
