Orban says Merkel sometimes shouted at him
17.11.2025 13:00

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he respects former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, despite the fact that she occasionally raised her voice at him.

Speaking on the MD Meets podcast, Orban described Merkel as an open-minded intellectual:
“I respected Angela Merkel… She even shouted at me sometimes. It wasn’t nice. More often than my wife, actually… But she was an open person.”

He added that Merkel never used her authority to impose her views and always sought to listen and discuss issues with others.
