Former UK PM Cameron receiving treatment for prostate cancer
Former British prime minister David Cameron said he has been treated for prostate cancer after the disease was detected during a routine screening.
Cameron told The Times that he decided to undergo testing in 2024 after hearing a radio segment about the importance of early detection. Follow-up tests confirmed the diagnosis, and in June 2025 he received focal therapy, a procedure that destroys cancer cells with electrical pulses. He said the treatment was successful.
Cameron said he does not usually discuss personal health issues but felt it was important to encourage men to get screened.
He voiced support for introducing a targeted prostate cancer screening programme.
