Turkey’s Chief Prosecutor's Office, Istanbul Police Counterterrorism Department and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) have detained three out of four suspects in a joint operation targeting individuals accused of conducting political and military espionage on behalf of the United Arab Emirates, TRT Haber reported.

According to investigators, operatives linked to the UAE intelligence services used Turkish phone numbers and fake online profiles to gather information on senior staff at Turkish defence industry companies and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The suspects also contacted officials in several foreign countries.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a fourth suspect who is currently abroad.
