Ankara, Washington, London and Paris to form a Ukraine working group

Ankara, Washington, London and Paris to form a Ukraine working group

Ukraine is ready to move forward within the framework of the US-proposed “peace plan” to end the war with Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky told a meeting of the “coalition of the willing,” according to RBC-Ukraine.

Zelensky said he is prepared to discuss the plan’s most sensitive elements with US President Donald Trump. He urged coalition members to develop a framework for deploying deterrence forces in Ukraine and to maintain support until Moscow is ready to end the war.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Ankara will continue diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace as soon as possible. According to presidential communications chief Burhanettin Duran, Turkey is ready to facilitate direct negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, which could take place in Istanbul.

Turkey believes that a potential ceasefire covering energy and port infrastructure could create favorable conditions for negotiating a comprehensive peace agreement between the parties.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined the coalition meeting for the first time. The Élysée Palace said the US and allies agreed to form a working group to advance negotiations on Ukraine’s post-war security guarantees.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the group will be led by France and the United Kingdom, with Turkey participating and — for the first time — the United States formally involved. The aim is “to precisely define each participant’s contribution and reach final agreement on security guarantees.”
