Trump issues statement after shooting near White House

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a statement following a shooting near the White House.

According to CNN, Trump confirmed that the detained suspect had arrived from Afghanistan and said the individual had been “brought into the country by the Biden administration.”

“This horrific attack was an act of evil, hatred and terrorism. It is a crime against our entire nation. It is a crime against humanity,” Trump said.

He added that he was determined to seek the toughest possible punishment for the suspect.
