Snow and frost forecast in Baku on January 20
Cold weather with precipitation is forecast in Baku and on the Absheron Peninsula on January 20, the National Hydrometeorology Service said.
In some areas, precipitation may intensify, with rain mixed with sleet and possible snowfall. Air temperatures at night and during the day are expected to range between 0 and 3 degrees Celsius. Atmospheric pressure will be above normal at around 766 mmHg, while relative humidity will be 75–85%.
Across Azerbaijan’s regions, intermittent precipitation in the form of sleet and snow is forecast, with locally heavy falls. Fog is expected in some areas, and westerly winds will occasionally strengthen.
Night-time temperatures will range from minus 2 to minus 6 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures will range from minus 2 to plus 2 degrees. In mountainous areas, night-time temperatures will be between minus 8 and minus 13 degrees, dropping to minus 13 to minus 18 degrees in high-altitude areas, with daytime temperatures of minus 3 to minus 8 degrees.
Icy conditions are expected on some roads in mountainous and foothill areas.
